Kwon Lab에서는 면역 시스템의 복잡한 작동 방식과 건강과 보호의 균형 상태를 유지하는 데 있어 면역 시스템의 역할을 이해하는 데 중점을 둡니다. 특히 감염과 같은 내부 및 외부 위협으로부터 보호하기 위해 면역 반응을 조절하고 실행하는 핵심 요소를 연구합니다. 면역과 관련해 '내성(Tolerance)'이라는 현상도 조사하며, 면역 반응을 유발할 수 있는 다양한 물질에 대한 면역 체계 내 비반응성 상태를 적극적으로 유도하는 메커니즘입니다. 이들은 자가면역 질환, 암, 신경발달 장애와 같은 인간 질병의 발생과 진행에 기여하는 기전을 해명하고, 면역 및 신경 요소와 박테리아 요소에 초점을 맞춘 연구를 통해 인간의 염증성 장애 치료를 위한 가능성을 모색합니다.
