The morphologic types of the transverse foramen was classified into 4 types and the frequency of the inner wall erosion of transverse foramina was examined in 92 Kore an axis (male 62 female 28 unknown 2) m order to compare with other popula lions There were erosions in 478% of total transverse foramen Of which 55.4% was left 40.2% was right The degree of the erosion was divided into 3 degree (ne ero sion, moderate erosion marked erosion) The moderate erosion was mostly ob served ( 35.3 %) The frequency of all erosions m male axis ( 51.6 % ) was higher than m female aXIs ( 35.7 %) In 2 groups according to age ( below 50 year - old and above 51 year-old) the erosion of the group above 51 year-old was higher ( 67.1 % ) than that of the group below 50 year-old (32.9%) The shape of the transverse foramina was classified into 5 types (Round Anteroposteriorly elongated ellipsoid Transversely elongated ellipsoid Obliquely elongated ellipsoid) The obliquely elongat ed ellipsoid type was mostly observed ( 53.8 %) The angle of the transverse process with a sagittal plane was 61 degree m the right sede 62 degree m the left side
