Abstract
This study aims to develop and implement the educational program to strengthen the job competence and respond burn-out of a settlement supporter of North Korean refugees for use as a basic material in future educational approaches. Participants consisting of 10 South and 10 North Koreans settlement supporters, showed distinct changes in prior and after education depending on where they are from. Prior to education, South Koreans aimed to strengthen their job competency and networking skills, but North Koreans wished to solve problems caused by burn-out and individual trauma. Since education, South Koreans have made positive changes in the functional domain, but North Koreans in the area of personal trauma cure and healing. The following should be considered in the educational program for settlement supporters of the North Korean refugees. First, the contents at the basic level of care-give should be sufficiently provided rather than a professional level at empowering the job competency. Second, settlement supporters of North Korean refugees should be aware that it has an extended social meaning than the concept of ordinary care service workers. Third, it is important that the treatment and healing of individual trauma should be preceded with continuous support prior to active duty as a settlement supporter.
