Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the factors related medication acceptability of the mothers with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) children and to disclose any relationship among these variables. This study employed a descriptive correlational and cross-sectional survey design using a face-to-face interview method. The survey was conducted from September 6th to October 25th, 2010 using self-report questionnaire. The sample included 143 mothers of ADHD children who were contacted in six psychiatric outpatient clinics in Daegu and Gyung-buk. All these mothers were interviewed with Conners Abbreviates Rating Scale (CARS), Parenting Alliance Inventory(PAI), ADHD knowledge instrument, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Maternal Behavior Instrument, Treatment Aceptability Questionnaire(TAQ) and Treatment Acceptability Behaviour instrument. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. t-test, ANOVA, Pearson''s correlation with SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this study are as follows. 1. The score for ADHD knowledge of the mothers tended to be low with a mean of 9.85 (52.4 with conversion). Average Depression level was relatively fair as average 9.27 by Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), a borderline level between "non depression" and "mild depression“. Maternal behavior was on average 61.77, which had slightly more positive maternal behavior. Husband''s support was at average level as 38.17. Medication acceptability was high as 60.69. 2. ADHD knowledge was low in poor groups (F=3.549, p=.031) but high ingroups with experience of medication side effects (F=11.587, p=.001). Mothers'' depression was high in groups with little formal education (F=5.86, p=.018) andwith low family economic level (F=7.78, p=.031). Total maternal behaviour was statistically different with sibling order (F=2.53, p=.013) and mothers'' profession (F=-1.99, p=.049).

Mothers'' autonomous maternal behaviour was significantlyhigh in mild ADHD symptom group (F=5.97, p=.016). Mothers with profession was high in total maternal behaviours (F=5.40, p=.021). Husband support level was significantly low in poor economic group (F=7.971, p=.001). Cognitive medication acceptability was significantly high in group with profession (F=2.715, p=.007). 3. Correlation among ADHD knowledge, depression, maternal behaviour, husband''s support, treatment acceptability of mothers with ADHD children undergoing medication was al follows. The children''s ADHD symptoms had positive correlation with mother''s depression and negative correlation with totalmaternal behaviour, affectionate maternal behaviour, and autonomous maternal behaviour. The husband support had positive correlation with mother''s know-ledge and physical health but negative correlation with mother''s depression. Mothers'' depression had positive correlation with the seriousness of the children''s ADHD symptoms and negative correlation with the husband support, mother''s physical health, total maternal behaviour, affectionate maternal behaviour, and autonomous maternal behaviour. When medical acceptability is categorized into cognitive and behavioral types, cognitive medication acceptability had negative correlation with the seriousness of children''s ADHD symptoms but positive correlation with total maternal behaviour, affectionate maternal behaviour, and autonomous maternal behaviour. In behavioral medication acceptability, on the contrary, had positive correlation with mother''s knowledge and negative correlation with mother''s depression. The worse the mothers'' depression and the more the knowledge of mother, the low the behaviour medication acceptability. ON the contrary, medication acceptability is high, the more mothers'' affectionate maternal behaviour and self-regulatory

maternal behaviour. In addition, the correlation among ADHD severity, mothers'' mental health, maternal behaviour and cognitive medication acceptability relatively coincide but not coincide with behavioral medication acceptability. Behavioral medication acceptability coincide with the higher the mothers'' ADHD knowledge and the lower the mothers'' depression. This is the incipient research on finding family factors for medication acceptability of mothers with ADHD children. the lighter the ADHD symptoms, the more affectionate maternal behaviour, and autonomous maternal behaviour mother''s cognitive medication acceptability increase. The more the mothers'' ADHD knowledge and the less the mothers depression the mother''s behavioral medication acceptability increase. The findings of this study may help remove barriers and facilitate factors that support ADHD medication accptability and mediation programs related.
