Abstract
We present a case of a 36-year-old pregnant woman with renal cell carcinoma who underwent a successful robot-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RLPN) at 14 weeks gestational age. The operative time, including da Vinci™ setup, was 165 min. The warm ischemic time was 28 min, and the estimated blood loss was 100 ml. The final pathologic evaluation was conventional-type renal cell carcinoma with Fuhrman nuclear grade 3, stage T1a disease with a negative margin. The remainder of the pregnancy was uneventful. Although previous cases of laparoscopic nephrectomy performed during pregnancy have been reported, this is the first case in which it has been performed using robotics. RLPN during pregnancy can be a safe and feasible alternative to open and laparoscopic surgery.
