담화과제에 기반한 노년층 어휘조사 : 어휘 출현율과 중복도

Abstract

어휘의 빈도는 어휘 목록 구성에 있어 중요한 요소이다. 또한, 어휘 목록 구성 시, 개인의 행동과 말하는 방식에 영향을 미치는 사회적 관계와 사회적 활동이 반영될 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 사회적 관계와 사회적 활동에 영향을 미치는 요소로는 연령을 들 수 있는데, 국내 노년층을 대상으로 이루어진 어휘 빈도 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 이에, 본 연구의 목적은 담화과제를 통해 우리나라 노년층의 구어 말뭉치를 수집하고 이를 분석하여 고빈도 어휘를 추출하는데 두었다. 이를 위하여 연구 목적에 적합한 구어 말뭉치의 설계와 분석 대상 선정을 위한 기준을 제시하였다. 수집된 말뭉치로부터 어휘의 빈도를 분석하고 이를 통하여 출현율과 중복도 기준 고빈도 어휘 목록을 제시하였다. 고빈도 기준으로 설정된 누적 출현율 80%와 사용자 중복도 5%를 충족시킨 어휘는 건강 111개, 날씨 91개, 음식 95개, 일과 133개로 나타났다. 또한, 전체 연령을 대상으로 수집한 선행연구의 어휘 항목과의 비교에서 연령에 따른 어휘 사용의 차이가 나타났다. 이로써, 노년층 구어 말뭉치에 나타난 어휘 사용이 고빈도 어휘에 집중되어 있는 것을 확인하였고 노년층 사회적 관계와 사회적 활동을 반영한 고빈도 어휘 연구의 필요성을 강조하였다. 동시에 연구를 통해 구축된 어휘 목록은 노년층 언어장애 환자를 위한 연구의 자료로 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Word frequency is an essential factor in constructing a vocabulary list. A vocabulary list should reflect age appropriate social roles and social activities. There has been no research done on word frequency in Korean elderly people. Thus, this study aims to develop a list of high frequency word for Korean elderly. This paper sets the criteria for the design of the verbal corpus and the selection of targeting data in accordance to the study purpose. The frequency of words from collected corpus was analyzed and a list of high frequency words was presented. High-frequency words that satisfies the cumulative occurrence of 80% and the user commonality of 5% were extracted from the collected data for each discourse topic. The outcome was compared with the list of the precedent research which was driven from all-age data. The result showed a difference in vocabulary usage according to age. The current study provides evidence that the vocabulary use in the verbal corpus of Korean elderly was confirmed to be concentrated in high-frequency vocabulary. At the same time, the result of this study emphasized the necessity of word frequency study reflecting the social relation and social activities of the elderly. The list of high-frequency words presented in this study could be used as a baseline data in research for the Korean elderly with speech disorders.
