Abstract
The purpose of the current study was to examine the level of physical activity(PA) among middle-aged women. Nationwide population-based (metropolitan area, 37.8%; city area, 31.6%; rural area, 30.6%) 1,304 Korean women (Age, 50.24±7.18 years) were randomly recruited, and face-to-face interview was administered to measure PA using International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ). Median value of total PA was 42.86 min/week, and 41.9% participated in PA excluding walking. Woman who lived in metropolitan area was 2.25times more likely to participate in PA than woman who lived in rural area. Woman aged 40s was more likely to participate in PA, vigorous physical activity, and strength exercise than woman aged 60s. The education level, family income and living area were significantly associated with the PA habits. The current study concluded that age, living area, education level, and family income are significant correlates of PA habits among Korean middle-aged women.
