간호학교에서의 가족계획통합교육을 포함한 교과과정 개편에 관한 연구 : 전주지방 간호학교를 중심으로

In order to keep pace with rapidly changing social and health needs, the present curriculum of schools of nursing must change. The purpose of this study was to revise the present curriculum of the Margaret Pritchard School (M.P.S.) of Nursing, Chunju, Korea, with particular attention to the integration of family planning into the curriculum.

Three hundred ninety students and graduates of three schools of nursing in the Chulla Buk Do area were interviewed regarding their opinion of their nursing curriculum.

Additionally, the present curriculum of the Margaret Pritchrad Professional School of Nursing was compared with four other schools of nursing in Korea. The results of the study were as follows: The present curriculum the M.P.S. of Nursing has a higher number of required credit hours (168.5) than any of the other schools of nursing. Of this total number of credits, the M.P.S. of Nursing had the least number of credit hours assigned for cultural subjects. For all of the schools, the majority of the student and graduate respondents felt that the number of credit hours for cultural subjects was not sufficient.

The proportion of professional nursing subject in the curriculum higher for the M.P.S. of Nursing, while the proportion of basic science subjects was lower. Forty three percent of the total respondents felt that there should be more public health

nursing subjects in their curriculums.

There was a better correlation between theory and practice in the curriculum of the Margart Pritchard School of Nursing than in the curriculum of the other schools. Major recommendation for the revision of the curriculum are to decrease the number of credit hours to 120, to increase the cultural and basic science subjects; and to decrease the professional subjects, exclusive of community health nursing subjects. The integration of family planning into each section of the curriculum is recommended in such a way as it avoid over-lapping of content.
