저자는 성별판정을 목적으로 15세에서 18세에 이르는 한국인 148명 (남 : 67명, 여 : 8

1명)의 상악경석고모형 상에서 6항목의 계측을 행하고 통계학적으로 분석하여 판별함수를

유도하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.

1. 계측항목의 남, 녀 평균치를 비교하면 모든 항목에서 남자가 여자보다 크다.

2. 계측항목 중에서 견치, 제1대구치, 및 제2대구치의 관후와 제1대구치 간 폭경이 성

별을 판정하는 데 있어서 의의있는 항목으로 나타났다.

3. 성별판정에 응용할 목적으로 계측항목들로부터 얻어지 계측치를 사용하여 다음과 같

은 판별함수를 유도하였다.

① Y = -25.4112 + 0.7513 BL3 + 0.3298 BL4 - 0.2854 BL5 + 0.7350 BL6 - 0.3842 BL7

+ 0.2893 AW(방법Ⅰ의 결과)

② Y = -25.0623 + 0.7737 BL3 + 0.7468 BL6 - 0.3885 BL7 + 0.2951 AW(방법Ⅱ의 결과)

BL3 : 상악 견치의 관후

BL4 : 상악 제1소구치의 관후

BL5 : 상악 제2소구치의 관후

BL6 : 상악 제1대구치의 관후

BL7 : 상악 제2대구치의 관후

AW 상악 제1대구치간의 폭경

4. 판별함수를 이용한 성별판정의 적중률은 76.4%를 보였다.





A STUDY ON SEXUAL DIFFERENTIATION BY MEANS OF DISCRIMINANT FUNCTIONS IN THE DENTAL

MEASUREMENT

This study is conducted with a view to make correct sexual differentiation by the

utilization of discriminant functions. For that purpose were randomly sampled out

148 young adult testees, comprising 67 males and 81 females, ranging from 15

through 18 years of age. Based on the values made available from the measurement of

6 items corresponding to the maxillary cast models, a statistical analysis was made

to abstract feasible discriminant functions.

The resultant findings are as follows:

1. The mean value by sex indicates, in all items, higher one in male group than

female group.

2. Through the measurement were defined as singificant items in sexual

differentiation the bucco-lingual dimensions of canine, 1st-molar, 2nd molar, and

1st bimolar width.

3. Derived from the values from measurement items were discriminant functions

with the intention of applying them to sexual differentiation, as follows:

1) Y = -25.4112 + 0.7513 BL3 + 0.3298 BL4 - 0.2854 BL5 + 0.7350 BL6 - 0.3842 BL7

+ 0.2893 AW(as tested by Method Ⅰ)

2) Y = -25.0623 + 0.7737 BL3 + 0.7468 BL6 - 0.3885 BL7 + 0.2951 AW(as tested by

Method Ⅱ)

BL3 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper canine

BL4 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper first premolar

BL5 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper second premolar

BL6 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper first molar

BL7 : Bucco-lingual dimension of upper second molar

4. Sexual differentiation in terms of discriminant functions represented a

probability of 76.4%.
