제주도 학동의 굴절이상

장시간 책을 보고 글을 쓰는 학교생활은 눈을 쉽게 피로케 하여 굴절상태에 많은 변화

를 초래하는 것으로 알려져 있다.

또한 여러 학자들은 종족과 민족에 딸 굴절이상의 종류와 그 정도의 다과에 차이가 있

을 뿐만 아니라 같은 종족이나 같은 민족이라 할지라도 그 생활환경, 생활의 정도, 독서

환경 및 독서습관 등이 굴절이상의 발생, 종류 및 정도에 많은 영향을 미친다고 보고하고

있다.

저자는 지리적으로 육지와 격리되어 있고 생활환경과 풍습이 육지에 비해 비교적 독특

하며 주민의 주거이동이 그리 많지 않은 제주도에서 학동의 굴절이상의 분포를 조사한 결

과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.

1. 제주시내 B국민학교학생 668명(1,336안)중 굴절이상안이 620안(46.4%)이었고 정시안

은 716안(53.6%)이었다.

2. 굴절이상안 중에서 원시성굴절이상이 33.3%였고 근시성굴절이상은 61.7%였으며 각각

의 유병률은 15.5%, 28.5%였다.

3. 근시성굴절이사의 유병률은 연령이 증가함에 따라 점차 증가하고 원시성굴절이상의

유병률은 연령이 많아짐에 따라 점차 감소하는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

4. 가장 많은 굴절이상도의 유병률은 -3.00D이하의 근시성굴절이상(27.3%)이었고 다음

은 +3.00D이하의 원시성굴절이상(15.3%)이었다.

5. 난시의 직난시(72.4%)가 가장 많았고 다음은 도난시(21.7%), 사난시(5.9%)의 순이었

다.

6. 부동시는 총 6명이었고 그 중 4명이 북성근시성부동시였다.

Refractive Errors in Schoolchildren in Cheju Island

In schoolchildren, close work may change the state of refraction and worsen

visual acuity.

It has been known that the type and amount of refractive errors might be

concerned with races. They have suggested that the heredity, the environment and

the attitude of near work may affect the state of refraction,

Refractive errors were surveyed on the 668 children of B primary school in Cheju

Island(province) which is far from the korean peninsula.

1) Among 668 children, refractive error was 46.4% and emmetropia 53.6%.

2) As to the distribution of refractive errors, 33.3% were hyperopic and 61.7%

myopic.

3) The number of myopia may increase but that of hyperopia decrease in old age

after 7 year old.

4) 27.3% were the prevalence rate of myopic refractive errors under -3.00 D and

15.3% under +3.99 D.

5) As to the type of astigmatisms, 72.4% were with-the rule and 21.7% against-the

rule.

6) Only t6 children were anisometropia.
