The present study is to review the process of family planning in Korea in order

to discover reasons behind its acquisition of the reputation that Korea is model

country in family planning movement.

This study presents following factors to be contributive to the remarkable

success of the movement in Korea;

1) Parents' strong desire to give better education to their children in order to

do this they had to reduce the number of children.

2) Close cooperation between the government and non-governmental agencies in

family planning program.

3) Good participance of well-trained medical staff especially doctors and

professors in the fields of preventive medicine, OB-GYN, Urology to rural areas for

the superior service.

4) Government's population policy was effectively reflected upon the first and

second 5-year development plans.

5) Technical assistance from agencies of foreign countries was most effectively,

used althrough in the early stages the amount of aid was only 10% of total budget.
