당뇨병은 구강조직 특히 치주조직과 타액선조직 및 구강점막에 여러가지 병변을 초래케

하는 질환이다.

이에 저자는 Streptozotocin에 의한 당뇨백서의 협점막 및 설점막에서 점액다당류의 변

화와 collagenolytic activity와 유관한 비반세포와의 관계를 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결론

을 얻었다.

1. 비반세포의 수는 실험군에서 현저히 감소되었다.

2. 비반세포의 수는 대조군에서나 실험군에서 모두 협점막에서 보다는 설점막에서 많았

다.

3. 비반세포의 수의 변동은 실험기간의 경과와는 무관하였다.

4. PAS반응은 실험초에 일시적으로 증가되나 실험 제 7일 이후에는 다시 정상으로 회복

되었다.

5. 실험군의 췌장의 islet세포들중 β 세포는 변성괴사되었다.





A STUDY OF MAST CELLS IN STREPTOZOTOCIN-INDUCED DIABETIC RATS

This study was initiated to observe what, if any, changes of the number and

morphology of Mast Cells, and Mucopolysaccharide of ground substance take place in

lamina propria of tongue and buccal mucosa of Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

The results were as follows.

1. Mast Cell density was decreased markedly in experimental group.

2. Mast Cell density of the tongue was larger than that of the buccal mucosa in

both normal and experimental group.

3. The populations of mast cells were not changed in accordance with the

experimental time intervals.

4. The periodic acid-Schiff's reaction for mucopolysaccharide was increased at

first in a few days in experimental group, but not prominent after 7 days.

5. The pancreatic islet cells, especilly β cells, were degenerated and necrosed

in experimental groups.
