레이저 후낭절개술을 시행받는 환자에서 Alphagan(0.2% brimonidine) Alphagan-P(0.15% brimonidine-Purite)의 안압 하강 효과 및 기타 안과적, 전신적 알파작동제에 의한 영향을 비교하고자 하였다. 42명 42안을 대상으로 하였으며 무작위로 두 군으로 나누어 Nd:YAG 레이저 후낭절개술 1시간 전과 시술 직후 두 점안액 중 한가지를 점안하였다. 시술 1시간 전에 안압, 안검열 너비, 이완기 및 수축기 혈압을 측정하고, 시술 후 3시간 동안 1시간 간격으로 측정하였다. Alphagan과 Alphagan-P 모두 시술 후의 안압 상승을 방지하는 것으로 나타났으며 두 군간의 안압 하강 효과의 차이는 없었다. 시술 후 안압이 올라가는 경우에 5mmHg 미만의 안압 상승 빈도는 Alphagan 군에서 25%와 Alphagan-P 군에서 27.4%로 두 군간에 차이가 없었다. 두 군 모두에서 의의있는 혈압의 변화나 안검연축의 발생은 없었다. 따라서 Nd:YAG 레이저 후낭절개술 후에 Alphagan-P가 Alphagan을 대체하여 사용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

This study was designed to compare the intraocular pressure lowering effect as well as other ocular and systemic effects of Alphagan-P(0.15% brimonidine-Purite) with Alphagan(0.2% brimonidine) following Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy. 42 eyes of 42 patients were randomly divided into two groups. One drop of Alphagan-P was instilled into the eyes of one group 1 hour before and right after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy. Alphagan was used to the other group in the same manners. Introcular pressure, interpalpebral fissure width and blood pressure(systolic and diastolic) were checked 1 hour prior to, and hourly for 3 hours following Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy. Both of the drugs effectively blocked postlaser intraocular pressure spike and no significant difference in the amount of intraocular pressure reduction was found between the two groups. Intraocular pressure elevation of 5mmHg or more within 3 hours following laser capsulotomy was found in 25% of the eyes in Alphagan group, and 27.4% in Alphagan-P group. Lid retraction or changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure was not observed from either group following instillation of Alphagan or Alphagan-P. Alphagan-P was proved to have similar ocular hypotensive potency as Alphagan does and both seem to be safe and effective in preventing intraocular pressure rise following Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy.
