대형참사시 컴퓨터를 응용한 법의치과학적 개인식별

대형참사시 컴퓨터에 의한 법의치과학적 개인식별의 유용성을 알아보기 위하여, 성인 508명의 치과진료기록부를 연구대상으로 하여 치과적 특징의 다양성을 조사하고, 컴퓨터 프로그램에 의한 모의실험을 통하여 법의치과학적 개인식별 선택력을 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.

1. 치과적 특징의 조합은 155 종류였으며 하악 제 1 대구치에 가장 많은 치과적 특징이 있었고, 연구대상 성인의 99.0%는 개인식별을 위한 치과적 특징을 가지고 있었다.

2. 치열의 구치부는 전치부보다 높은 개인식별 선택력을 가지고 있었으며, 충전물의 재료, 형태 및 충전와동의 정보는 개인식별 선택력을 증가시켰다.

3. 치과적 특징의 다양성은 충전물의 재료, 형태 및 충전와동과 상실치아의 조합에 의하여 주로 나타났다.

4. 시체에서 치열의 일부분만 존재할 경우에도 치아의 상태에 대한 정보가 있다면 컴퓨터 프로그램에 의한 법의치과학적 개인식별은 가능하였다.

5. 컴퓨터 프로그램에 의한 법의치과학적 개인식별은 치과적 특징의 다양성에 기초한 높은 선택력을 가지고 있었으며 신속하고 정확하게 이루어졌다.

이상의 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때 치아 자체의 특성과 치과치료에 의해 치아에 존재할 수 있는 치과적 특징의 조합은 매우 다양하며, 이에 기초하여 제작된 컴퓨터 프로그램을 이용함으로써 법의치과학적 개인식별은 다른 법의학적 방법에 의한 개인식별보다 더욱 경제적이고 실용적인 개인식별법이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

This study intends to find usefulness of the computer assisted dental identification in mass disaster. The variety of dental characteristics was investigated through the research of dental records of 508 adults. And a computer assisted simulation program was used to evaluate the selectivity of dental identification. Findings were as follows :

1. Combinations of dental characteristics were found 155 types. The most various dental characteristic was showed on the mandibular first molar. 99.0% of subjects had dental characteristics for dental identification.

2. The posterior teeth, in comparison with anterior teeth, showed higher selectivity in dental identification which was enhanced by information on the material, type and cavity of the restoration.

3. The variety of dental characteristics was mainly found on the combinations of missing tooth with the material, type and cavity of the restoration.

4. The computer assisted dental identification program, with information about one's tooth state, made individual identification possible when there was only a part of the teeth in a corpse.

5. The computer assisted dental identification had considerably high selectivity based on the variety of dental characteristics, And it was also performed faster and preciser than the existing identification methods.

Based on the results of this study, there are various combinations of the feature of the tooth itself with dental characteristics caused by a certain type of treatment on the teeth. And using the computer assisted dental identification

program based on this, dental identification can be more efficient economically and more useful than any other forensic identification methods.
