나날이 더 치열해지는 경쟁의 비즈니스 환경 속에서 양자 간의 신뢰와 결속을 바탕으로 한 긍정적이고 장기적인 관계의 형성은 비즈니스 성공의 첫걸음이다.

그런데 기업 간의 신뢰가 부족할 경우 기회주의적 행동들이 나타나게 된다. 기회주의적 행동이 일단 발생하게 되면 양자 간의 신뢰는 깨지게 되고, 오랫동안 유지했던 관계마저도 유지하기 힘들게 된다. 또한 상대방의 기회주의적 행동을 통해 기업들은 금전적인 손실마저도 감수해야 한다.

따라서 본 연구에서는 도매업체의 조직 문화 특성과 기회주의 통제 방안에 대한 심도 깊은 연구를 통하여 양자 간의 관계를 해치는 기회주의에 대한 보다 나은 이해를 도모하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 식품 제조업체와 도매업체 간의 관계에서 조직문화 특성을 확인하고, 조직문화의 특성이 기회주의 통제 방안 선택에 미치는 영향을 알아볼 것이다. 둘째, 기회주의 통제 방안의 특성에 대해 확인하고, 각각의 기회주의 통제방안의 효과에 대해 고찰해 볼 것이다.

이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 식품 도매업체 100곳을 대상으로 자료를 수집 분석한 결과, 도매업체의 조직 문화적 특성인 불확실 회피 성향, 집단주의 성향, 힘의 불균형 성향은 모두 기회주의 통제 방안에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 좀 더 자세히 살펴보면 불확실 회피성향과 힘의 불균형 성향이 높을수록 기회주의 통제방안 중 문서 계약은 증가하며, 집단주의 성향이 높을수록 기회주의 통제 방안인 관계 규범의 수준이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기회주의 통제 방안으로는 관계규범 보다 문서계약이 보다 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

이러한 관리적 견지에서 살펴보자면, 거래상대방의 특성에 따라 기회주의 통제에 대한 선호도가 다르기 때문에 이를 효율적으로 이용해야 한다는 것을 알 수 있다.

In ever more competitive business circumstances, constitution of long-term and positive relationship on the basis of mutual trust is the essential prerequisite for a successful business.

However, when mutual trust among corporations lack, opportunism appears. And once the opportunism occurs, mutual trust disappears and long-term relationship dissolves. Corporation even suffers financial losses due to the opportunistic act by counterparts.

Therefore, this thesis is designed to gain a better understanding of opportunism that damages mutual trust. The thesis is based on the in-depth research of organizational culture of suppliers and control mechanisms of opportunism. Firstly, characteristics of organizational culture between food producers and suppliers are found and the effect of organizational culture on control mechanisms of opportunism is dealt with. Secondly, characteristics of control mechanism of opportunism are found and the effect of each control mechanism of opportunism is considered.

According to research on one hundred food suppliers, charateristics of organizational culture, which are uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, power distance, affect control mechanisms of opportunism.

Minutely speaking, as uncertainty avoidance and power distance increase, contract drafting, one of control mechanisms of opportunism, increases, and as collectivism increases, standard of relational norm, also one of control mechanisms of opportunism rises. Moreover, as control mechanisms of opportunism, contract drafting turns out to be more effective than relational norm.

From managerial perspective, effective use of control mechanisms of opportunism is important since preferences of correspondents on control mechanisms vary.
