Abstract
[한글]

본 연구는 아로마 흡입이 밤번근무 간호사의 수면과 피로에 미치는 효과를 규명하고자 시도된 단일군 전후설계의 원시 실험연구이며, 연구대상은 서울 시내 C대학교 K병원 신경외과 중환자실에서 밤번근무를 하는 간호사로 총 17명이었다.자료 수집은 2007년 10월~12월까지 예비조사를 거쳐 본 실험 전ㆍ후 조사 순으로 이루어졌다.실험처치용 아로마는 레몬, 라벤더, 샌달우드를 1 : 2 : 1의 비율로 브랜딩한 에센셜 오일 27cc이었고, 처치 방법은 에센셜 오일을 2×2거즈에 1방울 떨어뜨려 코로부터 5cm 이내의 거리에서 2분간의 흡입을 취침 전 1회씩 총 2회 실시하였으며, 매 흡입 후 아로마 목걸이를 착용하도록 하였다.사전ㆍ사후 조사로 수면과 피로를 측정하였고, 객관적인 수면양상은 actigraph로, 주관적인 수면양상은 Verran & Synder-Halpern(VSH) Sleep Scale(1987)을 김경희(2001)가 번역한 도구를 수정ㆍ보완하여 사용했고, 피로는 일본산업위생협회 산업피로위원회(1988)가 개발한 피로 자각증상 조사표와 cline 등(1992)이 개발한 시각적 상사 척도를 이용하였다.자료분석은 SPSS Win 12.0 프로그램을 이용하였으며, 실수와 백분율, 비모수 분석 방법인 Friedman,과 Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test로 분석하였다.연구결과는 다음과 같다.1. 수면 잠복기는 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 증가하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다.2. 입면 후 각성횟수는 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 감소하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(χ2=5.70, p=.05).3. 총 수면시간은 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 감소하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다.4. 수면 효율은 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 증가하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이 가 있었다(χ2=11.41, p=.003).5. 수면의 질은 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 증가하였고, 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(χ2=25.53, p=.000).6. 피로 자각증상은 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 증가하였고, 통계적으로 유의 한 차이가 있었다(χ2=26.30, p=.000).7. 피로 자각강도는 아로마 흡입 전보다 흡입 후에 증가하였고, 통계적으로 유의 한 차이가 있었다(χ2=24.30, p=.000).이상의 결과로 아로마 흡입이 밤번근무 간호사의 입면 후 각성횟수를 감소시키고 수면 효율을 증가시키며 피로를 감소시키는데 효과가 있음을 규명하였으나, 수면 잠복기는 증가시키고 총 수면시간은 감소시키므로 이에 대한 반복연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.



[영문]This study is original experimental study with "before and after design" of single cluster to examine effects of inhalation of Aroma on sleep and fatigue of night shift nurses, and objectives of the study were total 17 night shift nurses who work at neurosurgery intensive care unit of K hospital, of C university in Seoul city.Data was collected from preliminary survey in October~December, 2007 and successively before and after this experiment.Aroma for experimental treatment was 27cc of essential oil blended with lemon, lavender, sandalwood of which proportion was 1 : 2 : 1, and treatment method was to make objectives inhale essential oil in 2×2 gauze to which one drop was soaked, within the distance of 5cm from nose to take one breath two times before going to sleep while wearing Aroma necklace.Sleeping and fatigue were measured before and after examinations, and actigraph for objective sleep type, a translated tool of Verran & Synder-Halpern (VSH)Sleep Scale(1987) by Kim Gyeong Hui(2001) for subjective sleep type were used to measure, and fatigue was measured by visual analog scale that Cline and others(1992) developed and the subjective symptoms questionnaire developed by the Industrial Fatigue Committee(1988) of the Japan Industrial Sanitary Association.SPSS Win 12.0 program was used for data analysis, and Friedman and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test which is analysis method of real number, percentage, non-parameter was used to analyze.The result of study is as follows.1. The sleep latent period increased after inhalation than that before inhalation, there was no statistically meaningful difference.2. Awakening number decreased after inhalation than that before inhalation and there was statistically meaningful difference(χ2=5.70, p=.05).3. Total sleeping hours decreased after inhalation than that before inhalation and there was no statistically meaningful difference.4. Sleep efficiency increased after inhalation than that before inhalation, there was no statistically meaningful difference(χ2=11.41, p=.003).5. Quality of sleep increased after inhalation than that before inhalation and there was statistically meaningful difference(χ2=25.53, p=.000).6. Subjective symptom of fatigue increased after inhalation than that before inhalation, and there was statistically meaningful difference(χ2=26.30, p=.000).7. Intensity of subjective symptom of fatigue increased after inhalation than that before inhalation, and there was statistically meaningful difference(χ2=24.30, p=.000).Above results clarify that inhalation of Aroma of night shift nurses reduce awakening numbers after sleeping and increase sleep efficiency and reduce fatigue, but increase sleep latent period and reduce total sleeping hours, on which repeated studies are needed.
