The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and efficient method of administering the Korean version-Boston Naming Test for Children(K-BNT-C) by comparing the following three different methods: 1) administering 60 test items; 2) applying a discontinuation rule of the ceiling upon six consecutive failures and 3) applying both a baseline upon eight consecutive successes and a discontinuation rule of the ceiling. Methods: A total of 2,560 children between 3 and 14 years old were stratified into 24 groups based on age and were tested via the K-BNT-C. The results of each age group were analyzed based on the aforementioned three administration methods. Results: There was no significant difference among the test scores of the three methods. However, the number of test items were significantly (p<.001) decreasedin the following order: administrating 60 test items, applying a discontinuation rule (49 test items), and applying both a baseline and a discontinuation rule (33 test items). Discussion & Conclusion: Alternative administration methods of the K-BNT can be proposed for different subject groups. It was concluded that the K-BNT-C can be administered more efficiently by applying both a baseline and a discontinuation rule in testing or screening for confrontation naming impairment in children.-
