Abstract
This is case reports of three patients who had oral erythema multiforme. Erythema multiforme is an idiopathic thought to be a hypersensitivity reaction to a variety of antigens including drugs, tumors, collagen disease, herpes simplex, Mycoplasm pneumoniae, immunologic disturbances, and emotional stress. Erythema multiforme occurs chiefly in young men between 20 and 40 years of age. The disease occurs usually in spring or autumn. Headache, fever, and malaise may accompany the acute feverish onset disease, but lymphadenopathy is unusual. Stevens-Johnson syndrome characteristically involves the oral and conjuctival mucosa as well as the skin and genitalia. The oral mucosa is involved, with erosion covered by a pseudomembranes and that easily bleeds on touch. The lips usually show characteristic bloody crusting. The differential diagnosis of erythema multiforme includes recurrent aphthous stomatitis. Two patients were biopsied and referred to department of Dermatology. The other patient was biopsied and treated by author. The author used sodium bicarbonate and Lidex creme for dressing and prescribed prednisolone, Tinset, hismanal, Vitamedine, and Festal. By follow up check of the patient, the author obtained complete healing without any sign of recurrence.
