Abstract
The effect of cognitive-behavioral therapy on chronic low back and associated physical and psychosocial disability was evaluated. 40 chronic low back pain patients were assigned randomly to a control(conventional therapy, group ① and the cognitive-behavioral treatment(conventional therapy plus cognitive-behavioral therapy, group ② Cognitive-behavioral therapy was performed by 6 sessions. Patient-self reports and observational measures were obtained pretreatment and posttreatment. Pain intensity of group 2 was decreased and depressive symptom, dysfunctional attitude and pain disability of group 2 were significantly improved compared with that of group 1. We conclude that cognitive-behavioral therapy on chronic low back pain should be recommended.
