Abstract

Objective: It is necessary to evaluate the educational materials for radiation safety management used by dental college students, as they will serve as radiation safety managers in the future, but no research has yet investigated this issue. This study aimed to collect data on education in radiation safety management by analyzing the relationships among the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of dental students regarding radiation safety management. Methods: A 182 senior students at the College of Dentistry were surveyed, and 168 subjects were analyzed. The questions elicited information on the general characteristics of the study subjects and their knowledge of radiation safety management, their attitudes toward radiation safety management, and their radiation safety management behavior. Analysis of radiation safety management was used by SPSS ver. 25.0. Results: Radiation safety management attitudes and behaviors showed a statistically significant correlation (r = 0.373, p ＜ 0.001). However, radiation safety management knowledge and attitudes (r = 0.05, p = 0.516), knowledge and behavior (r = 0.011, p = 0.883) were found to be irrelevant. Conclusion: The students at the dental college have a very knowledge of radiation safety management, but the level of knowledge of radiation safety management did not affect the attitude and behavior. A high score in radiation safety management attitude was found to increase the level of radiation safety management behavior. It is necessary to develop education programs that can improve the attitude of radiation safety management so that they can continue to act as high levels of radiation safety management.
