Purpose: Mycoplasma pneumoniae Pneumonia (MP) is one of the most common community -acquired pneumonia and its should be investigated continuously to know its recent features to care properly. The purpose of this study is to know its update epidemiological features. Methods: I collected the patient data of community-acquired pneumonia and MP who had been admitted and diagnosed by enzymatic immunoassay at the Department of Pediatrics, Yongin Severance Hospital, Yongin, Korea from January 2012 to December 2015. I collected and analyzed their characteristics such as admission year , months, age, and sex. Results: There were 582 cases (23.4%) of MP among 2492 cases of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) children for recent 4 years. The annual incidences of MP in CAP were reduced from 35.8% in 2012 to 19.4% in 2013 (2012 vs. 2013; P <0.001)and 18.0% in 2014 (2013 vs. 2014; P =0.267) and resurged to 27.7% in 2015 (2014 vs. 2015; P <0.001). The mean and median age of MP cases were 4.3±3.3 years old and 47 months old, respectively. Total male to female ratio was 0.9:1. Their mean age in 2012 was different from that in other 3 years ( P <0.05) and it was the youngest (3.7±2.8 years old). The male to female ratio was not changed by year. Peak month a year was observed on November in 2012, September in 2013, February in 2007, December in 2015. The annual proportion of MP teenager patients was continuously increased from 4.3% in 2012 to 7.1% in 2015. Conclusion: MP epidemic was observed in 2012. The age distribution was different between endemic and epidemic period. The monthly occurrence pattern was different among each year and the proportion of teenager in MP was increasing by year. Continuous research should be carried on to catch up its latest manifestation.
