This study was to identify the influential factors on the quality of life in family members of people living with HIV/AIDS. The subjects were 301 family members of patients with HIV/AIDS in Malawi, Africa. Data were collected from June 15 to December 30, 2013 and analyzed by SPSS 18.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Participants’ quality of life showed a significant positive correlation between family support, medical staff support, self-esteem, and reactional behavior to AIDS. By stepwise multiple regression analysis, family support (β=.417), medical staff support (β=.312), and self-esteem (β=.105) were the influential factors and these factors explained 45.9% of variance in the participants’ quality of life. Based on this study, effective nursing interventions need to be developed to increase family and medical staff support and self-esteem in order to promote their quality of life.-
