Mid-limbal incision ; Cataract surgery ; Intraocular pressure
Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate short- and long- term intraocular pressure (IOP) change after cataract surgery using mid-limbal incision and to assess whether there is a statistically significant post operative IOP change.
Methods: We prospectively checked IOP of 94 patients who had mid limbal incision cataract surgery and excluded the patients with preexisting glaucoma or other proven ocular diseases and high elevation (30 ㎜Hg) of IOP immediately after the
surgery.
Results: At 6 months after the surgery, the mean IOP of operated eye was significantly lower than that of non operated opposite eye, but the mean of normal eye was significantly elevated.
Conclusions: This IOP lowering effect of mid limbal incision cataract surgery suggests that control of IOP elevation related aging would be possible.
