변형 2단 및 3단 카세트홀더의 총 나트륨 포집 효율 비교

수산화나트륨(sodium hydroxide, NaOH)은 우리 나라에서 많이 사용하는 화학물질의 하나로서 산 중화, 원유 정제, 전기도금, 금속세정, 그리고 섬유, 제지, 염료, 플라스틱, 폭발물, 페인트, 페인트 제거 제, 비누, 세제, 표백제 등의 제조에 널리 이용되고 있다.

본 연구는 NaOH 취급작업장에서 동일 위치 및 조건으로 3단 카세트홀더와 내부전체에 필터 막(membrane)을 부착한 2단 카세트홀더를 이용하여 채취한 공기시료 중 나트륨 농도를 OSHA방법으로 포집, 분석했다. 변형 2단 카세트홀더에 포집된 나트륨과 3단 카세트홀더에 포집된 나트륨을 비교해서 변형 2단 카세트홀더의 포집효율을 평가하였다. 현장에서 채취한 10개의 시료에서 변형 2단 카세트홀더 내부에 포집된 전체 나트륨 중 47%가 상부(유입부+벽면부)에서 포집됨을 확인했고, 변형 2단 카세트홀더를 이용한 것의 포집효율이 3단 카세트홀더보다 평균 1.84배 높음을 확인하였다.

시료포집시 여과포집법을 이용하는 NaOH의 경우 3단 카세트홀더를 이용하는 것 보다 변형 2단 카세트홀더를 이용하는 것이 유입부와 벽면부의 나트륨을 포집하여 포집효율을 높일 수 있었다. 향후 NaOH에 대한 포집효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법에 대한 지속적인 연

구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is one of the chemicals produced in greatest quantity in Korea. It has various uses including acid neutralization, petroleum refining, electroplating, metal cleaning, laundering, bleaching, dish washing and manufacture of paper, cellulose, textiles, plastics, explosives, dyestuffs, paint, paint remover, and soap.

The aims of this study were to compare the sampling efficiency of the 3-piece cassette holder with the modified 2-piece cassette holder which whole inner surfacewas attached to cellulose ester membrane filter (MCE) at the chemical plants which were used the sodium hydroxide.

Total sodium sampling was performed by using the OSHA method ID 121 which is used as method of occupational environment measure- ment and analysis. Air samplings were performed by simultaneous samplings using 3-piece and the modified 2-piece holders at the same time and same place. The significant difference between average adsorbed amounts on the membrane filters of the modified 2-piece cassette holder and 3-piece cassette holder were found. Sampling amounts of the modified 2-piece cassette holder was 1.84times higher than the 3-piece cassette holder (p＜0.01). 47

% of total sodium was detected at the upper (inlet+middle-rim) side of the modified 2-piece cassette holder.

As the result of this study, it is verified that the modified 2-piece cassette holder is more effective than 3-piece cassette holder for total sodium sampling.
