dc.description.abstract[한글] [영문] The present report is a study of 316 cases of peptic ulcer who were treated by surgical procedures from Nov. 1958 to Sept. 1963. The follow up studies were done in 232 cases at period of one month to 4 1/2 years. Total 316 cases, except 43 of emergency cases were selected from application chart for admission comming from all over the Korea. 95% of the cases belong to low socio-economical group. The ratio of gastric and duodenal ulcer was 1.4 to 1. The average age for the onset of symptoms in male was 31.1 years and that of femlae was 32 years. The average age of patient in duodenal ulcer was 29.2 years, while it was 41 years i western material. Among 297 cases who has sub-total gastric resection the mortality rate was 3%. The late results of the patients were classified according to patient's subjective symptoms into four categories: 99 cases (94.3%) have satisfactory results, and the rest, 6 cases have unsatisfactory results. 39 (13.1%) of the 297 cases had dumping syndrome, which is about the same as in western reports. The post-operative weight changed after gastric resection in 36 patients (31.6%) whose weight increased slightly. The follow up time is in average over 2 years in 45 cases (15.1%). No recurrence has been found in our material.-
