dc.description.abstract[한글] [영문]One of the many methods for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement is corticotomy. The purpose of this study was to reveal how influential Er-laser corticotomy is on orthodontic tooth movement and alveolar bone reponse compared with the conventional corticotomy and to elucidate the many clinical values-more patients’s comforts after surgery and more doctor’s convenience. Eighteen 12 to 15 month-old male beagle dogs(Average weight 10-14kg) were used. They were divided LC group-which is applied orthodontic force after laser corticotomy-, CC group-orthodontic force after conventional corticotomy- and Control group-orthodontic force only. The amount of mesial tooth movement in each group was measured performed intraorally at 0, 1, 2, and 3 week. The distances of tooth movement were once more measured on the cast directly before and after experiment. All experimental beagle dogs were euthanized at 1, 2, and 3 week and the specimens were prepared for microCT analysis.Tooth movement rate in LC groups is numerically higher than CC and control group but there was no statistically significance. In microCT analysis, the some data of bone parameters in the LC group presented more rapid bone response any other than CC and control group statistically(p<0.05, p<0.01). Corticotomy groups showed the tendency as follows: bone density and bone volume were more decreased and trabecular thickness and trabecular separation were more increased than control group. In summary, this study demonstrated that corticotomy procedureaccelerates the demineralization, namely RAP, at early stage and increasethe tooth movement rate. It is thought the corticotomy with the Er-laser in orthodontic treatment will give both clinician and patient the more therapeuticbenefits -to shorten the treatment period and to reduce the clinical discomforts.-
