아동의 치과치료시 보호자와 아동의 분리에 대한 보호자 선호도 조사

아동의 치과치료시 보호자와 아동의 분리에 대한 보호자의 선호도와 그 이유를 조사, 분석하여 아동의 치과치료시 행동조절과 의사소통의 방법을 정하는데 도움이 되고자, 1993년 7월과 8월에 연세대학교 치과대학 부속병원 소아치과에 내원한 신환의 보호자 510명을 대상으로 설문조사하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.

1. 설문에 답한 보호자중 81%가 아동의 치과치료시 아동과 같이 있기를 선호하였다.

2. 보호자는 아동의 나이가 증가할수록 아동의 치과치료시 아동과의 분리를 선호하는 경향이 있었다. (p<0.05)

3. 보호자는 아동의 치과경험이 있고, 예전 치과치료시의 행동반응이 양호하였을수록 아동과의 분리를 선호하는 경향이 있었다. (p<0.05, p<0.1)

4. 치과경험이 있는 형제를 둔 보호자는 아동의 치과치료시 분리를 선호하는 경향이 있었다. (p<0.05)

5. 아동의 연령이 증가하고 보호자와 형제의 치과치료시 행동반응이 양호할수록 아동의 치과치료시 행동반응이 양호하였다. (p<0.01)

6. 치과치료시 아동의 행동반응이 부정적일수록 보호자는 신체속박 장치의 사용을 선호하는 경향이 있었다. (p<0.05)

이상의 연구결과에서 볼 때, 치과의사는 아동의 첫 치과내원시 보호자에게 바람직한 태도에 대한 사전교육을 실시한 후 아동과 같이 있는 것을 허락하여야 하며, 추후아동과 보호자의 분리가 필요한 경우에도 그 목적을 설명하여 보호자의 협 력을 구하는 것이 필요

하리라 사료된다.

THE SURVEY ON PARENTAL PREFERENCE OF SEPARATION WITH THE CHILDREN DURING DENTAL

TREATMENT PROCEDURE

In order to be the guide in deciding the method of child management and

communication in dental treatment procedure of children, the parental preference

and reasons for the preference of separation with the child during dental treatment

were surveyed and analyzed. The target of survey was the parents of the new

patients who visited department of pediatric dentistry at Yonsei University dental

hospital during July and August of 1993, and followings are the results.

1. 81% of answered parents preferred to be with the child during the dental

treatment.

2. There was a tendency for the parents to prefer the separation as the child got

older. (p<0.05)

3. There was a tendency for the parents to prefer the separation as the child has

the dental experiances and the previous dental attitudes of the child was

satisfactory.(p<0.05, p<0.1)

4. There was a tendency for the parents to prefer the separation as the child has

the brothers and sisters who have dental experiances. (p<0.05)

5. The attitudes of the children become satisfactory as the children got older

and the behavior during dental procedure of parents and the brothers and sisters of

the patient got better. (p<0.05)

6. There was a tendency for parents to prefer to use physical restraining

appliances as the children's previous behavior during the dental treatment was

negative.(p<0.05)

When analyzing the results, one can conclude that the dentists should explain the

desirable attitudes of the parents during the children's first visit to dental

office and allow the parents to be with the children during the treatment

procedure, and when the separation is needed in the future visits, the objectives

of the separation should be explained and ask for the help of parents.
