Candida albicans에 대한 사람의 다형핵백혈구의 탐식능과 세포의 변화양상을 전자현미경을 통하여 관찰하였던 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.

1. 다형핵백혈구의 Candida albicans에 대한 탐식능은 다형핵백혈구 부유액과 Candida albicans의 부유액을 혼합처리한 후 30분 경과군은 80.73%, 60분 경과군은 87.25%, 그리고 240분 경과군은 89.25%의 탐식능을 나타내었으며 10분 경과군에서는 탐식현상을 관찰할 수 없었다.

2. 미세구조학적 변화는 탐식 30분후의 다형핵백혈구는 정상세포와 별차 없었으나 단지 phagocytic vacuole내에 Canada albicans가 존재하고 있었다.

3. 시간경과에 따른 Candida albicans의 미세구조학적 변화는 탐식 4시간후 세포벽의 일부소실과 세포벽 주위에 백혈구에 존재하는 azurophilic granule과 전자밀도가 같은 물질들이 많이 침착되어 있는 반면 백혈구 내에는 azurophilic granule이 소멸되어 없어진

것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이 현상은 Candida cell의 세포내 소화(intracellular digestion)를 위한 작용의 하나로 사료된다.





STUDIES ON THE ULTRASTRUCTURAL CHANGES OF PHAGOCYTOSIS OF CANDIDA ALBICANS BY HUMAN

POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES

This study was undertaken to observe the phagocytosis of the candida albicans by

human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and the ultrastructural changes of candida

albicans in the poly-morphonuclear leukocytes.

The obtained results were as follows:

1. Normal human polymorphonuclear leukocytes ingested 80.73% of candida albicans

after 30minutes, 87.25% after 60 minutes and 89.25% after 240 minutes. No

remarkable increase was observed after 60 minutes and no phagocytosis after 10

minutes incubation.

2. Electron microscopic findings revealed no specific changes with normal

polymorphonuclear leukocyte cell after 30 minutes but candida albicans were in the

loose phagocytic vacuoles.

3. Ingested candida albicans showed partial disruption of if cell wall in 240

minutes and large amount of azurophilic granule like materials were deposited

surrounding the cell wall, whereas loss of them was observed in polymorphonuclear

leukocytes. This evidence is considered as an action for an intracellular digestion

.
