[한글]

조선시대를 대상으로 하여 당시의 질병예방의 사상을 문헌적으로 고찰하였다.

조선시대에 편찬된 의학서적인 「향약집성방」, 「의방유취 」, 「동의보감」, 「제중신편」등과 의사학 연구 문헌인 김두종의 「한국의학사」,「한국희학문화대년표」, 사카에 미키의 「조선의학사급질병사」 그리고 「조선왕조실록」등 관련 자료에서 질병예방과 관련된 사항을 취해 정리 고찰하였다.

그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.

1. 질병예방의 사상이 양생사상을 중심으로 정신적인 측면에서 강조되어 나타나 있었다.

2. 질병예방과 건강증진에 관련된 내용이 정신수양, 사철기후에의 적응, 음식조절 , 기거의 신중, 전염병의 예방, 임산부·유아의 위생 등의 영역에 나타나 있었다.

3. 초기의 경신적 비합리적인 질병에 대한 견해가 후기로 오면서 경험적 합리적인 인식으로 옮겨오는 중에 적극적인 질병예방 사상도 나타났다.

4. 질병예방과 관련된 관리로는 환자의 격리수용 및 치료, 기한자의 구호사업, 질병조사, 감옥의 환경과 죄수의 개인위생, 영양 및 청결한 환경의 관리가 이루어졌다.

5. 현대적인 위생관념은 서양의학 사상이 유입된 최근세의 갑오경장 이후에 정착되기 시작하였다.





A Study on the Thought of Diseases Prevention in Cho-Sun Dynasty

Trying to find out interest and concern in disease prevention in Cho-Sun Dynasty

(1392-1910, A.D.), this study was carried out through reference review with

available materials.

The following findings were obtained :

1. The concern on preventing diseases seemed to be emphasized for health

protection (so called Yangseng) rather from mental aspect

2. The concept on preventing diseases and promoting health were described with

emphasis on sound mind, adequate adjustment to seasonal climate, proper diet,

adequate care in daily life, prevention of communicable diseases and hygiene for

pregnant women and babies.

3. Attitude toward illness seemed to be changed to empirical and rational in the

late period of the Dynasty from supernatural and unrational viewpoints, and also

the more positive attitude toward diseases were found.

4. The care for preventing disease were carried out through isolation of patients

and therapy, relief task, morbidity survey, personal hygiene for prisoners in the

jail and environmental sanitation of the jail, nutrition and cleanliness.

5. After the western medicine were imported in the recent century the modern

concept for hygiene and health were disseminated.
