dc.description.abstract[한글] A Statistical Study on the Tooth Mortality and Prevalence of Dental Caries of the Freshman Students of Yonsei University Rang Jak Cho, D.D.S. Department of Medical Science, The Graduate School, Yonsei University The object of this study was to investigate the tooth mortality, the Prevalence of Dental Caries and the D.M.I. index of University students and to establish a basic data for school dental health service. In February 1972 clinical oral examination were conducted according W.H.O. Criteria on total 1,844(Male:1466, Female:378). Freshman students of Yonsei University, ranging in age from 17 to 23. The results abtained from this survey were summerized. As follows; 1. The average number of present permanent teeth was 28.56±2.40, which increased with age. 2. The prevalence of dental Caries was 85.79%(Male: 83.35%, Female: 89.74%). 3. Average number of D.M.I. teeth was 4.70±3.61 (Male:4.42±3.44, Female: 5.68±3.60). 4. Tooth mortality was higher in female than in male. 5. More teeth extracted on lower jaw and left side. 6. First molar was the highest percentage in mortality. 7. Upper tooth mortality was higher in anterior portion and lower in posterior portion.
