최근의 우리나라 사망원인의 수위를 차지하게 된 뇌졸중, 심장질환, 암, 간질환 등의 중요한 호발요인으로 알려진 흡연, 음주, 운동 등에 관한 해군장병의 노출 정도를 파악하고자 우리나라 해군장병중 장기하사 이상의 장병 1,395명으로부터 자기기입식 질문서로 자료를 수집하여 다음 같은 결과를 얻었다.

1. 흡연율은 73.8%이었으며 높은 연령층일수록 흡연율은 감소하였다.

2. 흡연자 또는 흡연경험자의 75.3%가 금연의 시도를 해보았고 금연시도자의 14.9%만이 금연에 성공하였다.

3. 흡연자의 평균 흡연량은 일일당 17.3개피였다.

4. 음주율은 88.7%이었고 주당 평균 에타놀 섭취량은 191.5㎖이었다.

5. 주당 평균 운동시간은 142.9분이었다.

6. 주관적 1회 구보능력은 평균 12.8㎞이었으며 연령층 간에 큰 차이가 있었다.

7. 한방이용 경험율은 20.9%이었고 한방이용 원인을 치료하기 위한 경우가 44.8%이었다.

8. 개소주 등 소위 강장제의 이용 경험율은 개소주 12.3%, 사주 14.0%, 녹용 10.2%등이었다.

A questionnaire survey was done for a total of 1,395 Korean Navy officers and

petty officers in order to study health behavior and attitude on smoking, drinking

and physical exercise. Major findings were as follows.

1. The starting age of smoking was lower among the younger age group. The

prevalence rate of smoking was higher among the younger group as 70 to 80% than the

older group as 50 to 60%.

2. Among the current smokers of those who have experienced smoking, 75.3% have

tried to refrain from smoking. Only 14.9% of them were successful to stop smoking.

The rate for stop smoking was higher among the older age group than the younger

group.

3. The average volume of smoking was 17.3 cigarettes a day among the smokers and

a total of 75.3% of them smoked 20 to 24 cigarettes a day.

4. About 90% are drinkers and the average alcohol volume drunken was 191.5㎖ a

week. The frequency of drinking was 4.5 times a month.

5. The average duration of physical exercise was 142.9 minutes a week.

6. The subjectively estimated jogging ability was 12.8㎞ in average; 16.9㎞ among

the 24 or less, 7.6㎞ among the age 40 to 44, and 6.4㎞ among the 45 or older age

group.

7. A total of 20.9% have ever tried herb medicine; 44.8% of them for therapy

purposes, while 55.2% as tonic.
