Hirschsprung&'s disease is considered one of the commonest congenital anomalies of the gastrointestinal tract in Korea. Serveral operations have been widely performed throughout the world for the treatment of Hirschsprung&'s disease. Duhamel&'s operation has many advantages over the others ; minimal pelvic dissection, preservation of sarcral nerve, few postoperative complication, excellent defecation function. A clinical analysis was carried out on 77 cases of Hirschsprung&'s disease who had been operated by Duhamel&'s operation in our hospital from Jan. 1982 to Dec. 1993. The postoperative complications were consisted of a enterocolitis(5 cases), intestinal obstruction(4 cases), anastomotic leakage(2 cases), pneumonia(1 case). There was no case of death. The postoperative defecation function was satisfactory in almost all cases(91%).
