The surgical outcomes of the facial nerve decompression were analyzed retrospectively in 24 cases with facial palsy caused by temporal bone fracture. Sixteen cases (66.6%) showed House-Brackmann (HB) grad Ⅰ, Ⅱ after operation. Six (85.7%) of 7 cases operated within 1 month from the onset, and 14 (73.6%) of 19 cases operated within 3 months from the onset improved within HB grade Ⅰ, Ⅱ postoperatively. There cases with traumatic neuroma on the lesion site showed HB grade Ⅲ, Ⅳ after operation. The recovery of the facial palsy caused by temporal bone fracture does not seem to be promising when the decompression was performed after three months from the onset.-
