dc.description.abstractBackground : The contribution of coagulation factors and fibrinolytic variables to the development of coronary artery disease(CAD) is still not clearly established. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of plasma plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI 1), factor Ⅶ(FⅦ) and fibrinogen as a determinant for CAD in case-control study of the middle-aged men and women. Methods : We measured plasma PAI-1, FⅦ and fibrinogen in 106 patients with CAD and in 107 healthy controls. Un Paired t-test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed to assess the risk factors for CAD. Results : Mean levels of plasma fibrinogen in patients and controls were 371.8±110.6 ㎎/dL and 296.3±74.4 ㎎/dL (P<0.001), respectively. There was no significant difference between patients and controls in the levels of plasma PAI-1, FⅦ. The odds ratios of CAD for and standard deviation increment in PAI-1, FⅦ and fibrinogen wee 1.04, 0.79 and 2.62 respectively. Women with CAD had higher levels of PAI-1 than those without CAD (12.9±7.4ng/mL vs 9.9±6.4ng/mL). Conclusions : These results indicate that increased levels of fibrinogen is an independent risk factor for CAD. PAI-1 levels in women were found to be associated with the CAD.-
