Objectives : Callahan’s Perinatal Posttraumatic stress disorder Questionnaire was translated in Korean (K-PPQ) and its reliability and validity were explored to develop a self-reported scale measuring posttraumatic stress symptoms in mothers of high-risk infant.
Methods : The translation of the K-PPQ was done according to the standard procedure. Subjects are 53 mothers who delivered healthy, term infants and 171 mothers who delivered high-risk infants.
Results : The psychometric results of the K-PPQ were comparable to the results of the original study. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s α=0.87) and the test-retest reliability (r=0.6) were psychometrically approvable. Also, correlations between the K-PPQ and the convergent measure (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Impact of Event Scale, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) were significant?
Conclusions : K-PPQ seems to be a reliable and a valid tool for evaluating mothers who experience distress after delivery of high-risk infants.(J of Kor Soc for Dep and Bip Disorders 2011;9:24-29)
