Purpose: The epidemiological manifestations of childhood rotavirus gastroenteritis (RVG) have been reported to be changed with rotavirus vaccination and their non-RVG would be so. Purpose: The epidemiological manifestations of childhood rotavirus gastroenteritis (RVG) have been reported to be changed with rotavirus vaccination and their non-RVG would be so. But there were limited numbers of domestic reports for them. I studied the epidemiological manifestations of RVG and non-RVG in children since 2008 to know them. Method: I collected the admission data for patients who have been admitted with RVG and non-RVG to the Department of Pediatrics, Yongin Severance Hospital from 2008 to 2014. I investigated and compared their monthly and yearly admission pattern as well as their demographic features Result: The RVG cases have decreased from 162 in 2008 to 8 in 2014. Its annual occurrence showed continual decrement trend except in 2011. Their age has increased from 2.5±1.5 years old in 2008 to 5.1±3.1 years old in 2014(P<0.001) and increment pattern been triennial and biennial. The proportion of RVG under 1 year old increased from less than 2% to more than 10% since 2010 and it was more than 20% in 2011 and 2012. The most frequent month of RVG has changed from January or February to April since 2011. The non-RVG cases were 272 in 2008 and 268 in 2014. Annual occurrence pattern showed biennial fluctuation. Their ages were 3.0±3.0 years old in 2008 and 3.7±3.9 years old in 2014(P=0.017). Their annual mean ages and proportion of cases under 1 year old have fluctuated. The most frequent month of non-RVG also changed by year. There was no significant correlation between RVG and non-RVG regarding to annual and monthly occurrence as well as mean age. Conclusion: The occurrences of RVG and acute gastroenteritis have decreased profoundly during recent seven years. The epidemiological features of RVG have changed regarding to prevalence and age. That seemed not to influence on non-RVG significantly. Continuous monitoring and multi-hospital based national analysis should be done to confirm these conclusions.-
