Abstract
An open clinical test is conducted to investigate the effects of multi-lamellar emulsion(MLE) contained pseudo-ceramide(PC-9S) on atopic dermatitis. The study group includes 37 atpic dermatitis patients who applied MLE on the skin two or three times daily for 4 weeks. During the follow-up period, atopic dermatitis improves significantly in all patients. After four weeks, the efficacy on improvement of the skin symptoms is 60% in SCORAD evaluation(p<0.005) and 40% after two week application.
The decreases in TEWL and skin pH after four weeks show statistical significance(p<0.01), and decreases in the values are higher in severe atopic dermatitis. On the contrary, the increase of skin hydration during application is not significant (N.SIt is concluded that the multi-lameller emulsion contained pseudo-ceramde(PC-9S) in this study is useful against atopic dermatitis.
