164 outpatients including 21 psoriasis, 21 ichthyosis vulgaris and 122 normal skin subjects, ages 2 to 73 were enrolled in this study. The skin capacitance in the shin was evaluated during winter time. A significant decrease in skin capacitance was found in both psoriatic lesions and ichthyosis in comparision with sex and age mached normal subjects. In addition, a drematical decrease in skin capacitance was found in univovlved area of psoriatic subjects in comparison with same age and sex of normal control.
In both male and female, the skin capacitance was lower in young group, ages 2 to 20, than that in age over 20 years old. Finally, the skin capacitance in males ages 21 to 50 years old is higher than that in the same age of females.
