dc.description.abstract[한글] [영문] Background: Although caudal block via the sacral hiatus is a common regional technique in children, it is sometimes difficult to identify the hiatus. The S2-3 approach can be used as an alternative to the hiatal approach, but the risk of dural puncture must be considered. We compared the feasibility and clinical characteristics between the hiatal and S2-3 approach in children. Methods: In 162 children who underwent ambulatory urological surgeries, success rate, drug spread, and clinical characteristics were compared between the hiatal and S2-3 approach. Results: Overall and first attempt success rates were 100% and 96.2% in the S2-3 group and 97.5% and 77.5% in the hiatus group. Drug spread level and clinical characteristics were similar in the 2 groups. Conclusions: The S2-3 approach can be used as an alternative for caudal block in children. However, careful puncture after ultrasound should be performed because dural puncture is likely to occur as the number of cases increase, although no dural puncture was observed in this study.-
