dc.description.abstract[한글] 현대사회를 일컬어 정보사회라고도 한다. [영문] It is said that we are living in an information-oriented society. The concept of this society which requires advanced information is also applied to medical field and thus such areas as financial sector in the hospitals have been automated in these days, The computerization of nursing area however, is incomplete, especially in Korea but it is being done gradually. The following several prerequisites should be studied before the automation of nursing area is carried out. Those are nurses' attitudes and anxiety toward computer and also the assessment of nurses' requirements for computerization as well as education on the usage of computer. The purpose of this study is to provide basic information for the computerization of nursing area by investigating the above mentioned prerequisities. For this study, the questionnaires were given to 297 nurses working for three hospitals and were collected during the period of April 20 to April 30, 1992. Those were analyzed using the statistics package SPSS, yielding frequency, percentage, t-test, Chi-square test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The results of this analysis are as follows: 1. Nurses' ages ranged from 21 to 40 with a mean age of 27.2. The 56.9% of the respondents had the experiences of computer usage and the 64.2% of them had been educated on the computer. The 97.0% of them wanted to get computer education and the 97.7% of sampling required the computerization of nursing. 2. The mean of nurses' attitudes toward computer was 73.3 and the attitudes of younger-aged were more positive than the odder-aged. From the view point of education level, graduate nurses were the most positive. The more the requirement fur computer education and computerization of nursing, the more positive the attitudes toward computer. The elements which influences nurses' attitude toward computer were requirement for computerization of nursing , education level and age. 3. The mean of computer anxiety among nurses' was 46.1 and the anxiety of older was higher than the younger-aged. The group with no computer experiences as more anxious than experienced sampling. The head nurses were less anxious than the nurses-in-charge but were more anxious to computer than staff nurses. The more the requirements for computer education and computerization of nursing, the lower the degree of computer anxiety is. The elements which influences on computer anxiety were requirement for computerization of nursing and computer experience. Considering the above results, we could conclude that the computer education far nurses is inevitable to move their attitude positively and to lessen their anxiety on computer, especially the education with hands-on experiences is required.-
