Abstract
The author had taken bone scan of temporomandibular disorders(TMDs) patients and analysed the results using both qualitative and semi-qulatative methods. This study was performed to compare affected and non-affected sides and to evaluate the data in correlation to the classification of TMDs, symptoms, duration and treatment period. Author examined bone scan of 484 joints in 242 subjects who had visited Orofacial Pain Clinic, Department of Oral Medicine, Pusan National University Hospital, treated and discharged. The measurement of simple uptake rate(SUR) was analysed and evaluated in correlation to the symptom, diagnosis, duration and treatment period after quantitative examination.
The obtained results were as follows:

1. The SUR was higher in joints affected by pain, limitation of movement and noise. Affected joints showed more active lesions while non-affected joints showed more non-active lesions.
2. The SUR showed the highest in joints affected by pain and the lowest affected by joint noise.
3. The SUR was higher in osteoarthritic joints.
4. The SUR showed the highest in both 3-6 months and 7-12 months groups of symptom duration and decreased as duration got longer.
5. In 1-2 years group of treatment period the SUR was higher in a long duration group than a short duration group.
