각종의 head gear (hi호 pull head gear, straight pull head gear, cervical pull head gear)를 사용하여 상악골에 강한 정형력을 주었을때 상악골 및 두개안면골에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 치아와 치조골 및 구개골은 광탄성 물질로 재련시켰고 다른 두개안면부

위는 광탄성물질을 입혀서(coating) 실험모형을 제작한 후 투과식 편광기와 반사식 편광기를 사용한 광탄성법으로 비교분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.

1. 상악구치에는 cervical pull head gear가 가강 큰 경사효과(tipping effect)를 나타냈으며 high pull head gear에서 가장 약하게 나타났다.

2. 응력을 나타낸 모든 부위에서 cervical pull head gear에 의한 응력의 강도가 가장 강하게 나타났다.

3. 협골전두봉합선과 구개후방부위는 cervical pull head gear에 의해서만 응력을 보였다.

4. 전비극 직하부에서는 straight pull head gear와 high pull head gear로만 응력을 보였다.

5. 전두상악봉합선에서는 cervical pull head gear와 straight pull head gear에 의해서 인장응력을 보였다.

6. 접형골의 익상판, 협골궁, 상악골이 누골과 사골의 안와면과 만나는 부위, 상악구치에서는 모든 종류의 head gear에서 다같이 응력을 보였다.



[영문]

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of orthopedic forces on the craniofacial complex utilizing the three kinds of the head gear. (high pull head gear, straight pull head gear, cervical pull head gear)

For this study, the teeth and alveolar bone and palate were reproduced from birefringent materials and other parts of craniofacial complex were coated with birefringent material on the model.

The effect of orthopedic forces on the craniofacial complex was analyzed by photoelastic method using transmission polariscope and reflection polariscope.

The results were as follows

1. The cervical pull head gear had the greatest tipping effect on the maxillary molars and high pull head gear had the leant tipping effect.

2. In areas stressed, the cervical pull head gear stressed the greatest degree.

3. Only cervical pull head gear produced strews at the zygomaticofrontal suture and the posterior region of palate.

4. The straight pull head gear and high pull head gear produced stress at just inferior to the anterior nasal spine.

5. The cervical pull head gear and straight pull head gear produced tensile stress at the fronto-maxillary suture.

6. The pterygoid plates of the sphenoid bone, the zygomatic arches, the junction of the maxilla with the lacrimal and ethmoid bone, and the maxillary molars were affected by three types of head gear.
