Abstract
[영문]
There have been many reports on the interrelationship between the thymus gland
and gonads. These reports seem to suggest a close relation between the function of thymus gland and that of gonads. The author has experimented about the interrelationship
between the thymus gland and the gonads brought about by the allergic changes, and
that is abstracted as follows
Materials and Methods
Young healthy male rabbits about 1kg heavy, were used in this experiment and fresh horse serum prepared by the National Institute of Health was used as the antigen for sensitization. The rabbits were divided into 2 groups : non-sensitized and sensitized. Among the non-sensitized were separated into 2 groups again each of the first group was given a dose of 0.1cc/kg of horse serum into the testicle, and each of the second group into the thymus. Among the sensitized the sensitization has been carried out by way of injecting a dose of 1 cc/kg of horse serum in the abdominal hypoderum daily for 4 days. Fifteen days later after the last injection of the sensitization was done, a dose of 0.1cc/kg if same antigen was injected into the testicle of the first group and into the thymus of the second group. The
rabbits were killed 3 hrs, 6 hrs, 12 hrs, 24 hrs, 48 hrs, 72 hrs, 1 week, and 2 week, respectively after the reinjections were done. The testicles and the thymus were taken out for histological examinations i,e,. Hematoxylin-Eosin and Van Gieson's stains with paraffin setting after 10% formalin fixation and Sudan Ⅲ stain with frozen section.
Conclusion
The result of the above experiments were as follows :
1) In normal rabbits, the allergic changes were observed in the testicle to which
the reinjection of normal horse serum into the testicle.
2) In normal rabbits, the allergic changes were observed at the thymus after the
reinjection of normal horse serum, into the thymus.
3) When allerges were brought on the testicle the same or a little milder
slightly later and shorter allergic reactions were recognize on the thymus.
4) When allergic changes were brought on the thymus, the same or a little milder,
slightly later and shorter allergic reactions were recognized on the testicle.
5) As the result of these experiments, it can be proved that there is close
interrelationship between the testicle and the thymus in the process of allergic
reaction. There have been many reports on the interrelationship between the thymus gland and gonads. These reports seem to suggest a close relation between the function of thymus gland and that of gonads.
