Ricketts는 교정치료전에 환자의 성장 변화를 예상하여 치료후의 결과를 미리 그려보는 Visual Treatment Objective(V.T.O.)를 작성하여, 치료 가능성 여부와 적절한 Anchorage의 양, 치아 이동량을 산출하여 치료계획에 효율적으로 응용할 수 있다고 하면서 백 인을

대상으로 분석하였으나, V.T.O.작성의 초기 단계인 교정치료전의 성장예견 및 10-Factor Analysis에 백인의 기준치를 한국인에 적용하는 것은 부당하며, 한국인 청소년기에 대한 연구가 없다고 사료되어 저자는 부정교합의 예방 및 치료의 적절한 시기인 10세에서 19세까지의 남자 159명, 여자 206명을 대상으로 한 측모 두부방사선 규격사진을 연령 별로 5군으로 분류. Ricketts 분석에 의한 계측점 및 계측항목을 설정하여 각도 및 거리계측으로 얻은 계측치를 전산통계 처리하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻어 치과임상에 응용할 수 있는 지견을 얻었기에 보고하는 바이다.

1. 남자, 여자, 혼성의 연령별 기준치를 산출하였다.

2. 연령과 계측 항목간의 연관성을 알기 위해 남자, 여자, 혼성의 직선회귀방정식을 산출하였다.

3. 거리계측 항목에서 남자의 계측치가 여자보다 큰 수치를 보였다.

4. Condyle axis, Facial axis length, Corpus length 및 Upper molar position은 연령증가에 따라 계측치가 증가하며 비교적 뚜렷한 상승직선 관계를 보였다.

This study was performed to establish the cephalometric standards and growth

change of Korean teen-age group by Ricketts analysis.

A roentgenocephalometric study was made from 365 subjects, that consist of 159

males, 206 females with normal occlusion, acceptable profile and no history of

orthodontic and prosthodontic treatment.

The results were as follows:

1. The tables of means, standard deviation from measured values were made. (male,

female, both sex).

2. The tables of regression equations from measured values were made to establish

the relation-ship between age and each item. (male, female, both sex).

3. All linear measurements of each item in male were greater than in females.

4. Items which show more linear than any other items were condyle axis, facial

axis length, corpus length and upper molar position.
