보건학 석사과정 이수자들의 제특성 및 사회활동에 관한 조사연구 : 연세대학교 보건대학원을 중심으로

우리나라 보건사업의 활기찬 발전과 확대에 수반하여 많은 인력이 요구되고 있는 현 시

점에서, 보건대학원 교육의 중요성은 재론의 여지가 없으나, 이들 과정을 평가하고 그 결

과를 보건대학원교육에 feed back 함으로써 더욱 질적 향상을 도모 할 수 있다는 견지에

서는 이곳에서 과정을 수료한 졸업생들의 의견이나 진로에 대하여 조사연구함도 대학원

석사과정을 간접적으로 중간 평가함도 뜻있는 일이라고 생각되어 본 조사에 착수하였다.

본 연구는 보건학 석사과정 이수자들의 제특성 및 사회활동 분야를 파악 하고져, 1979

년부터 1984년까지 보건대학원 졸업생 83명 (남자49명, 여자34명)을 조사대상으로(응답율

은 90.2%) 설문지를 사용하여 졸업생들의 입학당시 일반적인 특성, 재학시 교육경험을 통

하여 느낀 대학원 제도, 운영 및 발전방향에 대한 견해, 졸업후 직장에서의 직무에 대한

직무만족도, 활용도, 전공지식을 통한 사회기여에 대한 태도, 졸업생들의 사회활동 분야,

대학원 입학전과 졸업후의 직업변화등에 대해 분석한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.

1. 조사 대상자의 대학원 입학당시의 연령분포는 24∼27세가 31.3%로 제일 많이 차지하

고 있었고, 졸업 연도별로 1979년부터 1984년까지를 보면 대학원 입학당시의 평균연령은

연도가 지날수록 낮아지고 있다.

2. 대학원 입학전에는 직업이 보건의료 서비스직에서 석사과정 이수후에는 보건전문대

학 교수요원으로 직업의 변동이 뚜렷하며, 졸업연도별 졸업후 보건분야의 근무직종과는

유의한 차이가 있었다.

3. 대학원 입학전 비보건분야 취업자가 석사과정 이수후 보건분야로 약간명 (6%)의 직

업이동이 있었고, 대학원 입학전 무직에서 석사과정 이수후 보건분야로 취업하는 경향이

6%로 나타났다.

4. 석사전공 과정에서 학생들의 분포가 일반보건학(27.7%), 병원행정(15.7%), 환경관리

학(15.7%), 의학기술학(14.5%) 분야로 집중되고 있으며, 환경관리학과는 1981년 이후로

점차 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

5. 보건대학원 석사과정 이수자들의 석사과정 이수후 직업의 만족도와 보건 전문지식의

활용도가 57.9%, 60.2%로 각각 높게 나타났다.

6. 성별 대학원 입학동기에서 「학업을 계속하기 위하여」에는 52.9%로 여자가 높게 나

타났으며, 「직업과 관련되어서」에는 남자가 46.9%로 높게 나타났다. 성별로 본 대학원

입학동기에는 매우 유의한 차이가 있었다.

7. 석사과정 이수자들의 입학당시의 기대감을 가진 사람은 86.8%였으나 석사과정 이수

후 입학당시의 기대감의 충족도는 25.3%로 나타났으므로 보건대학원 입학당시 기대감에

대하여 학위 취득후의 충족도는 낮게 반영되고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

8. 석사전공별로 보건대학원 발전방향에 대한 졸업생들의 태도를 보면 보건행정, 보건

간호, 일반보건학 분야에서는 「보건대학원의 전문가 양성 프로그램을 강화 해야한다」가

각각 77.8%, 75%, 60.9%로 높게 나타나 전문화의 추구가 높게 요구되고 있는 것으로 나

타났고, 환경관리학 분야에서는 「강의위주보다 강의와 실습을 병행하는 교수학습방법」

을 38.4%로 높게 요구하는 것으로 나타났다.

This analytical study on the characteristics and social activities of the

graduates from the master's course at the Public Health School was done out of 83

graduates.(49 males, 34 females) during 1979-1984 of the graduate school of Health

Science and Management Yonsei University.

The contents of this study included general characteristics of graduates at their

entrance, their opinion upon the administration, teaching system, prospect of the

graduate school during their school days, the degree of satisfation with their

jobs. Professional Knowledge application, contribution to the Community Health

occupational changes of the graduates after their graduation from the school.

The results were obtained as follows with comparison by percentage and x**2 test.

1. Age distribution at the entrance to the school showed the most in the group of

24-27 ye ars (31.3%), and the average at at entrance to the school showed gradually

younger at entrance during graduation year 1979-1984.

2. There was an evident change in the occupation they have from the field of

medical service before entrance to school into the professorates of junior health

college after graduation.

3. 6% of graduates who worked in the non-health field service changed their

occupation to the health field after graduation and another 6% who had no job

before entrance got a job in the health field after graduation.

4. In the master's course, the distribution of students showed in the general

health science part (27.7%), hospital administration(15.7%), environment management

(15.7%), and medical technology(14.5%) in the department of health respectively,

students in the department of environment management showed increasingly in number

since 1981.

5. 57.9% of the graduates satisfied with their occupations, and 60.25 were

pleased with their professional knowledge application.

6. In the motives of entrance into the graduate school with an intention "to

continue one's study," the female showed 52.9 % and followed "relation with

occupation" by the male(46.9%). This fact showed significant difference in the x**2

test.

7. While 86.8% of graduates had expectation for the study at their entrance,

however only 25.3% of them were satisfied with their achievement after graduation.

8. Graduate's opinion upon the development of the school concerned with 77.8% of

the graduates in the health administration field, 75.8% in the health nursing, and

60.9% of general health science part. They desired specialization through

strengthening the programs for specialist training in the health graduate school,

and 38.4% graduates of environment management required "the way of teaching in

paralled with lecture and practice rather than the lecture-centered method."
