사회 인구학적 변수가 MMSE 점수에 미치는 영향

치매 선별 도구인 간이 정신 상태 검사(MMSE)에서 교육, 나이, 우울증, 성별이 미치는

영향과 영향을 미치는 방식에 대해 알아보기 위해 강화도에 거주하고 있는 65세이상 노인

1005명을 MMSE로 면담하고 이를 분석하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다.

1. 몇몇 항목에 대한 반응 거절 또는 반응 실패율이 나이, 교육에 따라 현저한 차이가

있었으며 특히 주의 집중 ,계산, 읽기, 시각-운동항목에서 그러하였다

2. MMSE평균 점수는 나이, 성별, 교육에 의해 유의하게 그리고 독립적으로 영향을 받았

으며, 우울증에 의해서는 영향을 받지 않았다.

3. MMSE조절 점수는 단지 한 변수에 의해서만이 아니라 나이, 성별, 교육등 모든 가능

한 변수에 의해 조절되어야 한다는 것이 더 분명해 졌다.

4. 나이와 성별이 혼란 요인인지 위험 요인인지 자료의 한계로 분명히 알 수가 없었으

며 이에 대해서는 앞으로 더 연구가 되어야 할 것으로 본다.

Mini-Mental State Examination is an instrument that is basicalIy more apt to

Measure the cognitive impairment quantitively. The 1005 subjects who lived in

Kangwha Island and above 65 years old was interviewed by MMSE to testify the

possible effect of age, sex, education, and depression on the MMSE scores. The

results were as follows:

1. The rate of refuse or failure in response to some items area were markedly

different by age and education especially in attention and calculation, reading,

and visuomotor item.

2. MMSE mean scores are influenced significantly independently by age, sex, and

education but not by depression.

3. It is considered better that the adjustment scores are determined not by any

single variable but by all of possible variables.(age, sex, education)

4. It still remains unclear whether age and sex are confounding factor or risk

factor, or both because of data limitation. So actual adjustment may be possible

only after further investigation.
